Summary
The Heavy Equipment (Dredge) Diesel Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment used in marine and dredging operations. This includes dredges, excavators, cranes, and other related machinery. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance, with a strong preference for experience in dredging or marine construction environments. The mechanic must be proficient in hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems and capable of performing repairs in both shop and field settings.
The pay rate for this position is $28.00-$32.00/hour.

Travel will be required to company project sites throughout Florida and the Southeast United States.
Per diem & housing may be available for those outside of a commutable distance to the project site.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to)
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on dredging and heavy equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and implement effective solutions.
- Operate safely and efficiently in marine and construction environments.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
- Source and order necessary parts and supplies.
- Conduct inspections to ensure equipment is operating within safety and performance standards.
- Work on marine gear while in operation when necessary.
- Understand and follow proper rigging standards and maritime safety protocols.
- Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, on HAZWOPER sites.
- Monitor job sites for hazards and maintain a safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with team members and take direction from project staff.
- Be able to work on marine gear while in operation.
- Learn and follow safety regulations.
- Take action to avoid potential hazards and obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, and falling objects.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Five (5) years of experience working as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Diesel Mechanic
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record, able to drive a company vehicle
- Ability to travel to various project sites
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous working experience in dredging or marine construction
- Experience and knowledge of Alaska Native cultures

Physical Demands
- Frequent lifting, sitting, standing, stooping for prolonged periods of time, using hands/fingers requiring dexterity, should have good hand-eye coordination and motion control in coordination with handling tools, equipment, and other related components.
- Reaching with hands and arms for items above and below sight level, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth, color perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place within the project location with occasional use of stairs and no elevator available; bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for up to 12 hours.
- Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds, such as small electrical components, equipment, and other materials.
