S³, Inc. has an immediate need for a Part-time Web Developer/Digital Designer who will be part of the corporate Publications/Proposals team at our corporate HQ in Research Park, Huntsville, AL.

The Developer/Designer is expected to work 1,000 hours a year.

Description: 

The Web Developer/Digital Designer will meet with client(s) and participate in initial project design meetings and schedule and conduct milestone reviews at key intervals in the process. Designs and builds web pages using a variety of software applications, techniques and development tools. Coordinates with web content developers and graphics designers to ensure that the needs are technically feasible. 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Design and create mockups and prototypes for websites and applications.

  • Write and maintain code using languages such as Java, HTML and CSS. 

  • Create graphics and multimedia elements such as images, audio and video for use on the website as requested by the client.

  • Test and optimize websites for usability, performance, and compatibility across different browsers and end user devices.

  • Provide analysis tools for website performance and metrics. Provide and optimize SEO and user experience.

  • Provide technical site maintenance and advice on issues related to animation, search engine techniques, link integrity, navigation, browsers, graphics, and other technical web developments.  Performs functionality and navigation testing.

  • Design, develop and maintain the organization's Intranet and Internet to include installation, configuration, support and ongoing maintenance to ensure web services and programs function securely and efficiently.

     

     

       Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Computer Science or other computer related discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional work experience with web development languages such as HTML, Java Script, and CSS.
  • Familiarity with graphic design software such as Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop. 
  • Experience with content management systems such as WordPress.  
  • Experience creating multimedia content.
  • Experience creating websites for DOD contractors preferred.
  • Strong understanding of UX and UI design principals.  
  • A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices.
