An opportunity is now available for experienced kitchen hands to join our Patient Food Preparation team at Cabrini Hospital Malvern. This position assists in the preparation of food for our patients and maintenance of kitchen areas. The successful applicant needs to be prepared to work a variety of shifts including day and evening shifts across the week, weekends and public holidays as required. This is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the patient care experience.
Your role
As a valued member of our Support Services team, you will be:
Assisting in food preparation and retrieving of food items as requested by the chefs
Cleaning all surface areas, kitchen equipment and appliances including ovens and range-hoods
Washing dishes, including utensils and large pots, as well as other cooking equipment
Removing rubbish and wash out bins
Receiving and storing of food deliveries (heavy lifting involved) and providing coverage for the storeperson where required
About you
This role will suit an experienced kitchen hand/cleaner with experience gained in a domestic or commercial environment. You will also:
Be reliable, team-oriented and committed to safe practices and quality standards
Hold a Food Handler’s Certificate (or willing to undertake at Cabrini)
Have knowledge of culinary and nutritional terminology including diet codes (preferable)
Have effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive and professional working relationships
Be adaptable to work flexibly and efficiently in a fast paced environment with ability to perform heavy lifting as required
