Job Title: Purchasing Coordinator
Reports To: Purchasing Manager
Primary Duties and Responsibilities include the following, additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as experience and product knowledge increase.
Purchasing
- Prepare and manage purchase orders (including “make and hold” and blanket purchase orders) through MIR’s Consolidated & Centralized Purchasing Program for all branches to meet branches inventory and customer’s needs
- Maintain procurement records such as items purchased, costs, delivery, product quality and performance; review quotes and negotiate prices with vendors; leverage buying power to obtain adequate supply and best price; negotiate non-material savings, i.e. freight.
- Review products for purchase by evaluating current inventory. If necessary, requests branch transfers or change of processing branch to utilize current inventory.
- Responsible for correcting price discrepancies.
- Identify and promote cost savings.
- Establish and enforce purchasing guidelines.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with new, existing, and potential vendors.
- Assist in management of purchasing, consignment and rebate programs.
- Daily management of the PO dashboard and Purchasing email inbox
Inventory Management
- Main contact for stock transfer requests
- Main contact for inventory cycle counts; maintain records and calculate results
- Involved in annual physical inventory, review of adjustments made during the physical inventory.
- Assist with “aged” inventory to find usable pieces/sizes and the locations or other sources that are able to use/sell; determine items that are obsolete.
- Prepares statistical reports of product sales and purchases
- Prepares statistical reports of cost savings for the MIR centralized and consolidated programs.
- Communicate with Vendors to obtain information/samples as required
- Distribute to branches and salesmen
- Create material product data sheets and samples
Branch Support and Communication
- Assist branches with product sourcing, as requested
- Main contact for review, setup and maintenance of all product item codes and vendors.
- Communicate product information to department managers
- Coordinate testing of new products with branch personnel.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. This position requires the ability to multi-task and manages multiple priorities. Individual must possess a strong attention to detail.
Education and Experience: Ideal candidate would have 2 to 5 years’ experience in purchasing and/or customer service or a college degree. This position requires strong computer skills, the ability to multi-task, and strong communication skills. Candidate should have an eagerness to learn, ambition, a strong work ethic, and a drive to excel in a fast paced and team-oriented environment. Position offers potential for growth as the candidate learns the position responsibilities and our industry.
