What’s the role
Shell is seeking a Franchise Standards Manager (also known internally as the Standards and Assurance Manager) to join their team in Houston, Texas.
This role will serve as the torchbearer for delivering on the Jiffy Lube vision: Consistently Jiffy. The Standards & Assurance Manager will be responsible for developing Jiffy Lube standards, ensuring successful implementation, and deploying resources to address any shortfalls. The ultimate goal is to ensure that every customer experience across the 2,000+ Jiffy Lube service centers is delivered consistently and exceeds expectations.
Accountabilities:
Act as the lead of a team of six full-time employees (FTEs), responsible for developing standards, monitoring performance against those standards, deploying resources to address shortfalls, and accurately billing franchisees for the use of the Jiffy Lube system
Maintain the ownership of the Jiffy Lube Policy & Procedures Manual, working cross functionally across the organization to ensure all aspects of the offer, including operations, marketing, construction, HSSE, customer service, fleet, and technology, are accurately reflected in the manual. Publish updates as market conditions and/or changes to the business model dictate
Manage all compliance management activities, including monitoring, courtesy notifications, default notifications, and, if necessary, termination of Franchise Agreements
Accountable for ensuring that there is a robust process in place to actively monitor all sites for compliance to the standards, which is currently accomplished leveraging field staff, 3rd party vendors and a well-defined store audit process
Address identified deficiencies by deploying appropriate resources, including subject matter experts within your remit, to resolve operational issues effectively
Manage the billing process for all Jiffy Lube provided services (Royalties, POS Fees, Marketing Fees), which will also require exerting commercial leverage afforded in our contracts as necessary to help drive compliance to the standards.
What you bring
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field is preferred
At least 10 years of experience, including frontline operations in a franchised business, with a solid understanding of standards and their practical application. Ideally, this will include some experience in the automotive sector
Experience in developing and implementing processes and standards is a plus
Proven ability to lead with a balanced approach, ensuring processes and standards are practical, valued by stakeholders, and aligned with the brand vision
Desire to develop and foster solid business relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and partners, including franchisees and suppliers
Ability to deliver under pressure, prioritize and pivot projects accordingly to manage critical issues
Problem solver who challenges the current status quo and seeks opportunities for process improvement
What we offer
The base salary range for this position is $146,000 - $218,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
