Job Description

The Staff Accountant is a member of the Athletics Business Office Accounting team, providing direct fiscal and administrative support to the Department of Athletics. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across a wide range of accounting functions, with a strong emphasis on accounts receivable, Workday procurement approvals and financial reconciliations.

Serve as the primary point of contact for all accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, collections, and reconciliation. Perform Cost Center Manager approvals in Workday. Maintain monthly reconciliation and accountability of petty cash and change funds in the Business Office, Athletics Box Office, and Golf Course. Assist with monthly close processes, including journal entries, fund transfers, financial reporting, and reconciliation of accounts and fund balances. Support preparation of annual budgets, monthly and yearly financial statements, and ad-hoc financial analyses. Monitor and maintain internal controls in alignment with the University’s Internal Audit standards. Assist in preparing supporting documentation for external audits, NCAA agreed-upon procedures / EADA reporting, and public records requests. Serve as a backup for other business office functions to ensure continuity of operations. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 2 years of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.

Desired Qualifications

Superior attention to detail; dependability, accountability, adaptability, and team player. Experience utilizing University financial systems. Experience in professional sports or collegiate athletics department. Experience and knowledge of computerized accounting systems and office/spreadsheet/database. Software desired Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerBI, Workday, Tableau, and Adaptive Planning Software.
