- Drive a leading safety culture by adhering to company safety policies, observing daily operations for at-risk behaviors, development and implementation of Job Hazard Analysis, and by utilizing the Hierarchy of Controls to reduce / eliminate hazards.
- Drive the development and execution of the plant operating plan in accordance with company policy and division business objectives.
- Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPI’s) for the plant, including budgets, productivity, inventories, safety, quality, etc.
- Prepare and monitor quarterly, monthly, and weekly budgets and forecasts as required.
- Manage the ongoing plant operations through supervisory and management staff.
- Work with direct reports and division staff to establish goals for plant performance in all areas, and coach staff to achieve goals.
- Provide guidance and leadership to supervisors and develop promising employees for future opportunities. Drive cooperation among plant employees.
- Resolve operating, scheduling, and production issues as needed.
- Contribute to overseeing capital expenditures and plant improvements.
- Consistently reinforce a commitment to customer-focus toward both internal and external customers.
- Establish consistent processes, standards, and expectations for the plant to ensure ongoing performance within the company, regulatory, and legal requirements.
- Work closely with direct reports to drive the continuous improvement process.
- Bachelor’s level education in forestry, business, or related areas is required.
- 5+ years of process manufacturing experience including direct supervisory experience.
- 3-5 years of demonstrated leadership of multiple departments within a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of production management, maintenance, and quality control principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, good judgement, and the ability to make sound decisions in a timely manner.
- Demonstrated leadership skills to motivate and guide the operations team towards a culture of reliability and continuous improvement.
- Prior experience working in lumber mills or wood products manufacturing is preferred.
