POSITION SUMMARY: The Lead Teacher shall be responsible to provide support, guidance and education to improve a child’s functioning in daily living and community living. The Lead Teacher is responsible for administering medications and first aid, providing safe transportation, assisting with and maintaining accurate documentation and records, and implementing the policies and procedures of UCP. The Lead Teacher is responsible to assure that quality supports and services are provided to children and that the philosophy of UCP is adhered to at all times.


The Lead Teacher is responsible to assure that there is consistency in the supports provided to each child with disabilities; that the communication among team members is effective; that duplication of efforts is eliminated; bureaucracy is reduced; that the small agency feeling is maintained; that a holistic approach is provided to people supported; and best practices are used.


Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-year experience with preschool age children or young children with special needs preferred.
  • Experience working with families and supervising staff required. ? Must obtain agency provided CPR/First Aid/BBP certifications within 60 days of hire.
  • Must obtain agency provided Safety Care certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Must obtain agency provided BHP certification within 12 months of hire.
  • Valid State of Maine driver license, reliable transportation with proof of registration and insurance, and willingness to use own transportation for work.
