Whatcom County's Prosecuting Attorney's Office is currently recruiting for a Victim Witness Coordinator.

If you answered yes to these questions, we hope to hear about your qualifications to fill this key role in the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The Victim Witness Coordinator provides a variety of specialized support services to primarily victims and witnesses of adult gross misdemeanor crimes involving domestic violence crimes in accordance with the Crime Victims Act of 1982, balancing team and individual responsibilities with minimal supervision and within established guidelines. Provides victim/witness notification, guidance and information about the legal and restitution processes. Answers questions pertaining to departmental functions and provides information about appropriate community resources for counseling, health and protective services, and Crime Victim’s Compensation. Complies with legal standards and requirements.

Supervisor: Investigation Supervisor
Office hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday
Salary Range: $27.92 - $40.25 (MCBA- Range 130.0)
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a High School diploma or GED AND 5 years of progressively responsible experience providing system or community-based advocacy services.
OR
Requires an associate’s degree in human services, Criminal Justice or a closely related field AND 3 years of progressively responsible experience providing system or community-based advocacy services.
OR
A bachelor’s degree in human services, Criminal Justice or a closely related field AND 1 year of progressively responsible experience providing system or community-based advocacy services.
Additional Requirements:
Certification for 40 hours of Core Advocacy Training preferred.
Must be able to type accurately and proficiently with a speed of 60 net words per minute.
Must have a background check that meets County criteria and CJIS security.
Must have a driving record that meets County standards and possess a valid driver's license at time of hire and throughout employment.
Required to complete advocacy certification at the next available Washington State Victim Assistance Academy after hiring, if certification has not already been attained provided funding is available.
