The Maintenance Worker I position plays a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the city’s iconic public spaces—including parks, community centers, sports complexes, and downtown areas.
This entry-level role preserves Scottsdale's reputation as a world-class community by performing essential groundskeeping duties including:
Performing trash pickup and operating litter control devices
Trimming and pruning shrubs and trees
Cleaning ramadas, sidewalks, patios, restrooms, and drinking fountains
Trimming and weeding areas using powered mowers, weed-eaters, and manual tools
Inspecting grounds for hazards and report findings to supervisor
Operating city-owned vehicles including trucks, small tractors, and EZ-GO carts
Raking and weeding planters, granite areas, playgrounds, and picnic areas
Performing minor sprinkler repairs and maintenance
This recruitment is seeking to fill multiple opportunities at various assignments including Chaparral Park, Eldorado Park, North Area Parks, Bell Road Sports Complex, and Downtown areas.

Position Duties
Education and Experience
- A High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
- Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties as described and excellent customer service skills.
- Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months prior to the start date. The Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles requires that out-of-state driver's licenses must be surrendered within 10 days of relocating to the State of Arizona.
- Note: Graduated Driver’s Licenses are considered restricted.
- Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work.
