About the Department

What You Will Be Doing:
Working with the State Records Manager, the Records Analyst will assist state and other public agencies in the orderly management of their records, helping to preserve valuable government records that document Alaska's history and ensuring citizens and agencies have quality access to public information. More specifically, you will draft records retention schedules, prepare records disposition notices, approve records transfers, and provide consultation and outreach to state agencies, small governments and municipalities, and other public entities to address their immediate and long-term records management needs. Using data entry and manipulation skills, you will track the movement, storage, and disposition of state records, as well as generate inventories and related reports for state agencies. You will connect with many stakeholders, liaisons, records custodians, and vendors as you relate records management principles, best practices, and legal requirements pertaining to a number of records management related aspects including storage, formatting and conversion technologies, emergency preparedness and disaster recovery, and records preservation.Mission and Values/Culture:

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
This position is located in the beautiful Father Andrew P. Kashevaroff State Libraries, Archives, and Museums Building in downtown Juneau. With dedicated parking and easy access to the amenities of downtown Juneau, including an onsite café, and views of the Gastineau Channel and surrounding mountains, the office is a striking base of operations. The daily work environment in our open floor plan workspace is collegial, collaborative, and professionally inspiring as staff work together to support state and local governments, researchers, visitors, and residents.

Position Duties
Records Analyst 1 Minimum Qualifications: (Range 16)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any subject major.
Records Analyst 2 Minimum Qualifications: (Range 18)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any subject major;
AND
Two years of professional records analysis and management work experience at the entry level. The required experience includes work such as Records Analyst 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.
Substitution:
Graduate education from an accredited college or university in business administration, general management, public administration, information and records management, computer science, legal studies, or a closely related field will substitute for up to one year of the required experience (2 semester hours/3 quarter hours equal one month).
Minimum Qualifications

New positions hired into the Division may be asked to serve on the Building Management Team, which opens and closes the building for staff, monitors environmental systems, and covers the building on weekends and evenings during special events
This position is flexibly staffed. This vacancy may be filled at either the 1 or 2 levels, depending on the applicant's training and/or experience. The full range of salaries is listed above. Starting salary will be determined by the level of the position. If filled at a lower level, promotion to the higher level will only occur upon successful completion of the probationary period and required training, and the applicant meets the minimum qualifications of the higher job class, and final approval by the supervisor. It is recommended and encouraged that you apply for any level for which you qualify.
