Position Summary
This position is responsible for managing and maintaining physical security systems including CCTV, access control, and building alarms across all MacAllister locations in Michigan and Indiana. The role oversees enterprise-wide installation and maintenance of low voltage cabling and IP based security technologies, manages employee access, and resolves technical issues to ensure system reliability. It also involves coordinating with internal teams and external vendors while maintaining accurate documentation to support compliance and operational continuity.
Position Duties/Responsibilities
- Execute enterprise-wide deployment of industry standard, low-voltage cabling (CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a) across all MacAllister facilities, ensuring optimal network performance and scalability.
- Perform comprehensive cable installation tasks including strategic routing, termination of jacks and patch panels, and integration of pathway support systems such as bridle rings and j-hooks to maintain infrastructure integrity and compliance.
- Install and configure IP-based surveillance systems and point-to-point (PTP) communication devices, ensuring seamless integration with existing network architecture.
- Support the implementation, configuration, and ongoing management of camera servers, contributing to system reliability and data retention protocols.
- Administer the issuance and reclamation of employee security badges, maintaining accurate access records and ensuring alignment with organizational security policies.
- Assign and audit employee access permissions to ensure appropriate security clearance levels are maintained across departments.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues related to IP cameras, access control systems, security badges, and building alarm systems, minimizing downtime and enhancing operational security.
- Maintain and update comprehensive documentation for all physical security systems, procedures, and configurations to support audit readiness and knowledge continuity.
- Collaborate with external security vendors to manage service delivery, system upgrades, and maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with Facilities, Real Estate, and IT teams to ensure alignment on infrastructure projects, security enhancements, and space planning initiatives.

- No formal responsibility for supervising others.
Position Requirements
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License
- At least 8 years of hands-on experience in low-voltage electrical systems, including structured cabling and device integration.
- Proven knowledge in construction-related trades, with a strong understanding of job site safety and workflow.
- Proficient in mechanical systems and skilled in the operation of standard construction tools and equipment.
- Demonstrated expertise in the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of IP-based surveillance systems.
- Hands-on experience with access control systems, including installation, programming, and ongoing maintenance.
- Familiarity with server hardware installation and basic network configuration.
- Working knowledge of Point-to-Point (PTP) wireless communication platforms.
- Flexibility to work second shift as required by operational needs.
- Availability for 24/7 on-call support to address security system issues and respond to remote site service requests.
Preferred:
- BICSI certification or equivalent training in telecommunications infrastructure.
- Axis Certified Professional designation or comparable manufacturer-specific certification.

- Ability to work weekends and outside the typical hours of 8a.m. to 5 p.m.

- Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the security industry
- Effective computer skills with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and the ability to learn proprietary systems
- Ability to build and maintain effective customer and professional relationships through strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on relationship-building and consistent demonstration of solid professional judgment.
- Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and listening skills.
Other Requirements of Position
- Works under general supervision. Employee acts independently to handle standard problems but usually report on such problems. More unusual problems are referred to a supervisor/manager
- Major responsibilities typically require a modest amount of creativity and latitude. Employee typically operates under general instructions with some established procedures and policies
- If an error is made while in this position, it will require moderate effort to identify the error and can create a moderate impact on the company financially
