Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Perform basic metrology measurements on blanks and finished optics, document results per customer or internal requirements.
Perform Zeiss CMM measurements when needed.
Record test data in databases or electronic data sheets.
Interpret technical drawings to confirm parts meet specifications; segregate and process non-conforming parts through MRB.
Provide feedback to other departments regarding quality issues.
Package optical blanks (shrink wrap/box) to reduce handling requirements.
Conduct testing, including:
IR transmission on all qualification samples
Visible/NIR transmission on ZnS MS samples (using FTIR and Lambda 9 spectrometers)
Knoop hardness and grain size measurements as required
HeNe scatter testing on ZnS MS samples
Index homogeneity testing for ZnSe materials
Provide materials and test results to the Quality Assurance group.
Ensure proper documentation, packaging, and labeling per customer requirements.
Support compliance with customer specifications, drawings, and special instructions.
Perform process audits to verify compliance with manufacturing standards.
Use Oracle/Agile ERP systems to look up parts, drawings, and documentation.
Education & Experience
High school diploma with strong math skills required; two-year technical degree in Quality/Metrology preferred.
2–5 years of quality assurance experience with an emphasis on mechanical testing preferred.
Ability to read and interpret optical drawings per military specifications and ANSI standards.
Technical background helpful for understanding optical and material concepts.

Must be able to use Microsoft Office Applications
Interpret mechanical drawings
Strong analytical and math skills.
Good manual dexterity required / mechanically inclined
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be both team-oriented and self-motivated.
Must be highly organized.
Must be a US citizen (ITAR products)
Working Conditions
Cleanroom environment with inspection stations.
Constant visual and mental alertness required.
Daily exposure to solvents.
Must be able to handle stressful situations.
Physical Requirements
Excellent eyesight required for defect detection.
Standing 5–6 hours per shift; sitting 2–3 hours.
Lifting up to 25 lbs. (team lift/equipment required above that).
Pushing/pulling 5–50 lbs.
Careful handling of optical products requires use of both hands.
Safety Requirements
All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards.
