The Opportunity
Join a high-performing Commercial Finance team as a Finance Business Partner, with two exciting opportunities available, a 12-month fixed term contract and a permanent role. This senior position plays a pivotal role in supporting strategic decision-making across RLA Australasia, partnering closely with the CFO, Chapter Lead, and business stakeholders. You will lead financial planning, forecasting, and performance reporting, while managing investment spend, transformation benefits, and cost base control to ensure timely, accurate insights that drive business outcomes.
Key responsibilities include overseeing monthly and quarterly close processes, delivering robust variance analysis, and guiding business unit leaders through cost management and strategic planning. You will support project portfolio governance, uplift financial controls, and mentor both onshore and offshore resources. Your ability to distil complex financial data into clear, actionable insights will be critical in influencing senior leadership and enabling effective decision-making across the organisation.
Success in this role requires a commercially astute finance professional with 10–15 years’ experience in reporting and analysis, ideally within life insurance or financial services. CA, CPA, or actuarial qualifications are preferred. You will demonstrate strong stakeholder management, advanced problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced, agile environment. Exceptional communication skills, strategic thinking, and a collaborative mindset are essential to delivering high-impact results.
How will you make an impact?
Work with senior leadership to ensure that Finance deliverables, requirements and appropriate controls and disciplines are met, maintained, and enhanced.
Support the monthly, quarterly and full year close management reporting for RLA entities, including execution of relevant processes and controls
Report and seek to understand and drive BU end to end costs (operating expense, project implementation costs). Produce variance analysis actual to plan, and partner with BU owners to investigate deviations, providing insights to guide management actions and strategic decisions.
Monitor project activity associated with cost reductions and identify cost savings.
Support the business plan planning and forecasting processes, assimilating data sources and outputs from various teams for inclusion in the overall plan.
Support the team Coordinator in meeting team key results and objectives
Provide direction and monitoring for offshore outsourced resources as required, and share knowledge, develop and mentor other members of the team.
Support the uplift of financial controls, process development and documentation.
