Senior Investment Research Specialist – London

Mercer is seeking a talented individual to join our Multi-Asset Manager Research team. This role will be based in London and is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

You will be part of the wider Multi-Asset Team which is an integral part of Mercer’s global investment platform, delivering on performance, intellectual capital and supporting the wider business in the areas of Portfolio Construction, Economics & Dynamic Asset Allocation (DAA), and Multi Asset Manager Research. The individual will work closely with the other areas within the broader team, sharing investment ideas and trends within the multi-asset manager research area, reporting to the Global Co-Head of Multi-Asset Manager Research.

We will count on you to:

  • Play an active role in developing intellectual capital, displaying initiative to remain a market leader; pro-actively identifying and managing value-added ad hoc projects as well as promoting areas of improvement

  • Interact with asset managers and support investment consultants with the goal of bringing multi-asset strategies to clients globally

  • Proactively lead interviews with portfolio management teams and business leaders

  • Gather and analyse information to identify and communicate asset managers that Mercer believes are most likely able to generate value for clients

  • Provide insights and advice to clients and consultants on a wide variety of multi-asset strategies as well as how the products can enhance a clients existing plan

  • Present Mercer’s views on how to build effective exposures to multi-asset structures and how an allocation to these strategies can enhance a clients return/risk profile

  • Extend Mercer’s thought leadership in the industry by presenting Mercers views at internal and external conferences

  • Contribute to post meeting discussions covering key issues and recommended manager ratings

  • Provide ad hoc support to consultants in preparing for internal and external research meetings

  • Assists in the preparation for direct client discussions on managers/strategies

What you need to have:

  • A background in manager and fund research/selection, ideally across multi-asset

  • A solid understanding of different portfolio management approaches and competitive strategies amongst managers

  • A wealth of fund research/manager due diligence experience

  • Intellectual curiosity, tenacity and willingness to take on new opportunities

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, ability to multi-task, manage multiple priorities and work in a rapidly changing environment

  • BA/BS degree in finance, economics, or other business-related areas having strong quantitative and analytical analysis

What makes you stand out?

  • Experience of private assets

  • MBA and/or CFA

  • General knowledge of Environmental Social Governance (ESG) investing

  • Knowledge of the MA investment strategies and institutional asset managers
