This is a 24-month study and a new collaboration between the Centre for Trials Research and CARE. This study aims to identify the key issues of care, housing, and ageing for people living with HIV (PLWH) aged 50 and above in Wales, from the perspectives of those with lived experience and health and social care professionals providing direct support.

Our research questions are:
  • What are the ageing experiences and concerns of PLWH aged 50 and above (50+)?
  • What are the housing and social care needs and priorities for PLWH aged 50+?
  • What are the priority areas for practice and future research?
Work packages will include
  1. a scoping review and
  2. a three-stage DELPHI study including semi-structured interviews with people living with HIV to identify key issues and concerns attached to ageing.
Data collection will be assisted by co-researchers who are individuals living with HIV assisting with interviewing and data analysis.

We are looking for a range of methodological skills – we are particularly interested in candidates with qualitative research skills and experience in community engagement in research.

Candidates with personal lived experience of social care and/ or accessing HIV services are especially welcome.  Note that applicants will not be expected to disclose, evidence or demonstrate this either at application or if selected for interview.
