Special Education Resource Program Teacher Assistant na Sparta Area School District

Qualifications/Description: 

• Must meet district Teacher Assistant (TA) requirements 
• High school diploma or equivalent; 
• Highly Qualified status as required by No Child Left Behind and the Individuals with Disabilities Act—Associate’s Degree or have scored at least a 4 in math or reading, and a 3 or better in writing on the WorkKeys test or ETS Parapro Assessment with a passing score of 460.
• Consistent and punctual attendance 
• Ability to be flexible with varying student needs and schedule changes
• Provide support to students within general education and resource room locations
• Experience working with students with autism and/or emotional impairment is preferred
• Ability to monitor and manage student behavior
• Ability to follow, implement and document all aspects of Positive Behavior Intervention Plan
• Ability to provide sensory integration as needed
• Ability to work with children in a caring, nurturing manner
• Effective communication skills with a variety of staff and students 
• Demonstrates flexibility, teamwork and organization
• Hard working and team player
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
• Demonstrated physical ability to lift and transfer students
• Technology literate
• Ability and willingness to perform recess monitoring, bus loading/unloading and lunchroom supervision, as necessary
• Perform all other duties assigned by the classroom teachers, Principal and/or Director of Student Services
• CPI and/or Ukeru trained preferred
