Position Summary

NTN Driveshaft, Inc. (NDI) is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Director of Production Control lead planning, scheduling, and material control functions, including Shipping and Receiving, which support high-volume manufacturing operations. This position plays a critical leadership role in ensuring on-time delivery to OEM customers, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and driving efficiency through Lean Manufacturing principles. The Director will collaborate across departments to ensure material flow, production readiness, and operational alignment with NTN’s standards for Safety, Quality, Compliance, Cost, and Delivery (SQCCD).

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

· Develop and execute production control strategies that align with customer demand, operational capacity, and corporate objectives.

· Lead and mentor the Production Control team, promoting a culture of accountability, communication, and continuous improvement.

· Partner with Purchasing, Logistics, Quality, and Engineering to ensure seamless coordination between material supply, production scheduling, and product delivery.

· Provide clear direction on production priorities to support on-time customer delivery and efficient plant operations.

Production Planning & Scheduling

· Develop and manage the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to align capacity with customer demand and ensure timely order fulfillment.

· Oversee daily production scheduling for machining, assembly, heat treat, and finishing operations.

· Monitor and analyze production forecasts, customer releases, and capacity constraints to proactively adjust schedules.

· Coordinate production changes to support new product introductions, engineering modifications, and line balancing initiatives.

Inventory & Material Management

· Maintain optimal inventory levels of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods to meet delivery targets while minimizing carrying costs.

· Monitor and ensure inventory accuracy to support reliable planning and forecasting.

· Collaborate with Purchasing and Logistics to ensure material availability and resolve supply constraints.

· Utilize ERP/MRP systems (JD Edwards preferred) to manage material planning, inventory tracking, and performance reporting.

Customer & Cross-Functional Communication

· Serve as the primary liaison between Production Control and OEM customers regarding delivery schedules, production status, and order fulfillment.

· Communicate changes in customer requirements promptly across departments to ensure alignment and responsiveness.

· Partner with Engineering and Program Management to support launch activities and ensure production readiness for new programs.

Continuous Improvement & Performance Management

· Identify and implement Lean Manufacturing and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and support SQCCD objectives.

· Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) including schedule adherence, inventory accuracy, inventory turns, and delivery performance.

· Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 standards and customer-specific quality requirements.

· Support digital transformation and data-driven decision-making through improved use of ERP tools and production analytics.
