SUMMARY:

Assist the foundry staff in evaluating casting defects, reducing process variation, collecting and analyzing data and providing recommendations to management. Additional foundry related duties, such as coordinating trials, sand testing, process book information and pattern evaluations, may also be assigned as needed. 

RESPONSIBILITES:

Evaluating defects:

•             Identifying defect location
• Identifying root cause of the defects
• Provide recommendations for improvements

Process Variation:

• Review sand testing data
•             Monitor sand preparation process
•             Data mining for process changes and scrap information
• Perform sand testing in a lab setting to determine our current and preferred sand properties

Process Books:

• Assist with setting up and maintaining the process books or other electronic information needed for the digital transformation project

QUALIFICATIONS:

Be enrolled in a four year technical program related to the foundry industry. This position will require extensive computer use. Individual must be proficient with computers. A good working knowledge of foundry sand and sand testing, along with casting defects, is a plus.
