POSITION SUMMARY:
Individuals for this position must be retired school administrators who still have active GA leadership certificates. Work is on a part time basis (49%, 9 days per month) as administrative substitutes in schools where there are administrators on extended leave.
The TRS Retiree Part-Time Principal serves in a leadership capacity to provide experienced instructional and operational support to the assigned school. This role is designed for retired Georgia educators returning to service under TRS guidelines, working in a part-time, non-benefitted capacity. The part-time principal supports the full-time leadership team by fostering a safe, orderly, and supportive learning environment, assisting in the implementation of school improvement initiatives, and helping ensure continuity of leadership and instructional oversight. The TRS Retiree Principal will be expected to apply knowledge, experience, and leadership skills to positively impact teaching, learning, and school culture. This position reports to the respective Assistant Superintendent.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaborates with the school’s administrative and instructional team to support the high-fidelity implementation of district instructional practices, policies, and programs. Provides leadership assistance in managing the daily operations of the school, including safety, discipline, and student supervision.
Assists in monitoring instructional practices through classroom observations and provides actionable feedback to teachers and instructional staff.
Supports the review and analysis of student data to monitor academic progress and inform instructional adjustments.
Participates in planning and monitoring the school improvement plan in collaboration with school leadership.
Maintains communication and engagement with students, staff, families, and community stakeholders.
All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Master's degree or higher required.
Retired school administrator (Assistant Principal and/or Principal) experience required.
Work involves instructional and operational leadership that routinely affects the school, district, and surrounding community in a demonstrably way.
Assistant Principal: Standard or Performance-Based Professional Educational Leadership—Tier I certificate and completion or exemption of all applicable Special Georgia Requirements at the time of application.
Principal: Standard or Performance-Based Professional Educational Leadership—Tier II certificate and completion or exemption of all applicable Special Georgia Requirements at the time of application.
A supervisor is available to review established broad objectives; independent judgment is required.
Requires regular contact with internal and external personnel of importance and influence.
Responsible for supervising multiple functions with full accountability for effective operation and results.
Responsible for the welfare of others constantly (daily).
Normal school setting. Typically walking around facility (manage by direct monitoring around).
NOTE: This is a part-time position working a maximum of nine (9) days per month.
