Greenbush – The Southeast Kansas Education Service Center is seeking applications for a part-time International Language Interpreter (Spanish) at the Reach Infant Toddler Services in Winfield, Kansas.

 

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible.

 

Job Summary: Reach Infant Toddler Services is an early intervention program that provides services to children ages birth to three years old and their families with a focus on improving development. They serve Cowley, Elk and Chatauqua counties. The International Language Interpreter-Spanish job was established for the purpose of providing communication services to all families that speak Spanish and have Limited English Proficiency (LEP).

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

A valid driver’s license is required for employment. REAL ID is required if air travel is necessary to complete job duties.

  1. Minimum of a high school diploma, experience with Microsoft Office, web-based communication systems, and basic office skills, including scheduling.

Preferred:

  1. Experience working in Infant Toddler Networks. Experience with using multiple platforms to coordinate communication with parents who have Limited English Proficiency (LEP) with early intervention providers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:

  1. Interprets communications to or from the staff to parents and caregivers with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) related to early intervention services. Interprets for a wide range of meetings, including, but not limited to evaluations, early intervention sessions, Individualized Family Service Plan meetings, and transition conferences with the school district.
  2. Assists the early intervention team with phone calls.
  3. Updates the Family Service Coordinator when contact information for Spanish-speaking families including emergency contact information changes.
  4. Working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; and operating within a defined budget.
  5. Utilization of some resources from other community stakeholders may be required to perform the job's functions.
  6. Work collaboratively with team members of other early intervention disciplines (e.g. SLP, OT, ECSE, PT, Nurse, Social Work, Nutrition).

  7. Work in partnership with parents/family members.

  8. Complete all assignments in a time-sensitive manner as determined by Supervisor.

General Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain timely documentation.

  2. Support the mission, goals, and objectives of the Southeast Kansas Education Service Center (SEKESC).

  3. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.

  4. Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined by FERPA and HIPAA.

  5. Ability to work alone and in groups to provide services.

  6. Maintain professional relationships with families.

  7. Assume responsibility for individual professional growth by staying current with literature, research, and/or practices.

  8. Demonstrate proficiency in the ability to effectively and regularly communicate with other employees of the SEKESC and constituents.

  9. Follow all safety requirements as directed by the SEKESC.

  10. Regular and predictive attendance in the designated work location as determined by the Executive Director designee.

  11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or designee.

Physical Requirements

  1. Lifting to 20 pounds.

  2. Manage all job duties with mobility, agility, and dexterity.

  3. Sit/stand for long periods.

  4. Work in loud/stressful environments.

  5. Ability to drive in varying weather and geographical conditions.

  6. Being exposed to infectious and contagious diseases.

  7. Being exposed to hazardous materials.

  8. Being exposed to work settings that offer a risk to personal security and that are not ADA-compliant.
