Special Education Teacher (Early Childhood)
Reports To: Early Childhood Director/Director of Student Services
Position Purpose: To provide specialized instruction and support to young children with disabilities in inclusive preschool settings, ensuring compliance with IDEA, Rule 51, and Rule 11.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for preschool-aged children.
- Provide direct and consultative special education services within inclusive classrooms.
- Collaborate with general education PreK teachers, paras, and related service providers to support Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).
- Use evidence-based instructional strategies to address developmental delays, communication, behavior, and social-emotional needs.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all documentation complies with IDEA and state timelines.
- Conduct assessments and contribute to MDT/IEP team decision-making.
- Partner with families to support transition planning (Part C to B, PreK to Kindergarten).
- Participate in professional development and district-wide special education initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Special Education.
- Nebraska teaching certificate with Early Childhood Special Education or Early Childhood Inclusive endorsement.
- Knowledge of IDEA, Rule 51 compliance, and developmentally appropriate practices.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
