Decision Scientist - Pricing & Category Analytics na Best Buy

As a Decision Scientist on our Pricing & Category Analytics team, you’ll help shape the strategies that drive smarter pricing and better customer experiences. You’ll dig into data, build models, and uncover insights that fuel innovation and growth. If you love solving complex problems and turning analytics into action, this role is for you.

This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days at our corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota, and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process. 

What you’ll do

• Analyze large datasets to find pricing and category optimization opportunities 
• Build predictive models to support pricing strategies like promotions and membership offers 
• Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to forecast trends 
• Translate data insights into clear, strategic recommendations 
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business impact 
• Stay current with emerging analytics tools and methods 

Basic qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., statistics, economics, computer science) or equivalent experience
• 3 years of applied professional experience in pricing, category and retail strategy 
• 2 years of professional experience of applying analytical techniques to solve business problems 
• 2 years of experience in SQL or tools like Python, R, or Alteryx 
• Strong communication skills to present complex ideas clearly

Preferred qualifications

• 3 years of experience with SQL, Python, or R 
• Experience in pricing optimization, forecasting, or inventory management 
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery 
• Exposure to agile or sprint-based work environments 
• Master’s degree in a related field
