Summary Description:

Plan, coordinate and direct quality control program designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervise employees in the quality assurance department
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies
  • Interview, hire and train employees
  • Plan, assign and direct work
  • Appraise performance
  • Reward and discipline employees
  • Address complaints and resolve problems
  • Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product
  • Perform responsibilities as the ISO management representative to insure that the requirements of AS 9000, ISO 9001, QS 9000 are implemented and maintained
  • Formulate and maintain quality control objectives and coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs
  • Direct workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities and products
  • Plan, promote and organize training activities related to product quality and reliability
  • Investigate and adjust customer complaints regarding quality

Skills or Experience Required:

Must have High School diploma or GED and Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four-(4) year college or university; or one (1) to two (2) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must have the ability to - 

  • Read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents

Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.

  • Write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format
  • Effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Must have the ability to - 

  • Apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations and permutations
  • Apply mathematical operations such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis

 

REASONING SKILLS:

Must have the ability to - 

  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and with several abstract and concrete variables
