Reports to: Facilities Maintenance Manager

Position Summary: Make sure all equipment is operating safely and properly.

Responsibilities and Areas of Accountability:

  • Educate employees on company safety policies and procedures and enforce compliance.
  • Supervise crew in manner that supports the PDM Objectives of being a low-cost producer and high-quality provider.
  • Responsible for growing and managing the preventative maintenance program.
  • To continually reduce equipment down time
  • Ensure production goals are met each day (no missed pours because of equipment failure)
  • Ensure equipment is safe and reliable.
  • Demonstrate ambition to develop personal skills for further advancement.
  • Make sure all equipment is operating safely.
  • Inspect and repair equipment.
  • Make sure preventative maintenance schedules are being followed.
  • Ensure that all scheduled maintenance tasks are accomplished.
  • Maintain equipment records including all costs being spent on each piece of equipment.
  • Keep and inventory of specific parts to eliminate down time.
  • Maintain all trailer inspections and repairs are DOT compliant.
  • Follow all OSHA and ANSI regulations.
  • Keep management notified of major expenses.
  • If a piece of equipment is found to be unsafe, make sure it is locked and tagged out and not used until the repairs have been made.
  • Reduce the number of vendors to realize potential savings.    
  • Correct Safety Hazards, poor behavior, and unsafe actions immediately.
  • Keep shop area clean/orderly.
  • Review work area with safety Manager 
  • Implement safety program and training (Certification of Uniloader / Bobcat, End loader, Forklift, etc.)
  • Internally works closely with all operators to identify problems with equipment. Also, works with bed foreman and production personnel to make the job of pouring the concrete easier for them.
  • Externally maintains good public relations with vendors, outside contractors, and other companies, etc.
  • Work closely with affiliated plants to best manage inventory and purchasing requirements.
  • Track and record all capital expenditures for plant projects so that accounts payable can keep an accurate up to date budget.
  • Track and maintain inventory log of parts so that we do not end up with overstock.
  • Report to Plant Manager on Purchase orders 


Requirements

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Mechanically inclined, management, and communications skills required.

Education: Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent, 2-year degree a plus

Experience: 3 years’ experience in maintenance desired.
