Job Purpose

Responsible for providing interventions to youth in the Day Treatment Program for the purpose of helping youth remain in the school, community and in the home.  

Qualifications                                                          

  • Staff must have a high school diploma or equivalent, plus two (2) years of experience working with children who have a SED or have experienced abuse and neglect (9CSR 30-4.043(3)(I)).  
  • Valid driver’s license for current State of Residence, Class E for Missouri Driver’s License, or equivalent for State of staff’s residence, and current auto insurance. 

Core Job Duties

  • Attend to the needs of and provide assistance to youth during Day Treatment activities and within the community, under the direction of the Day Treatment Director.   
  • Teach/Model appropriate behaviors and coping skills for the youth through group education and hands-on experiences based on person-centered care plan.  
  • Facilitate group activities that encourage positive choices, promote self-esteem, support academic achievement, and develop problem solving skills for home and school.  
  • Provide complete and timely documentation as per policy and procedures.  
  • Provide care to youth in a manner that promotes safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment based on Trauma Informed approach.  
  • Assist with facilitating family activities.  
  • Responsible for transporting clients in agency and/or personal vehicle as deemed necessary and appropriate to meet program requirements.  
  • Work with an integrated treatment team, including care coordinator, therapist, and the school staff to provide consistent care.   
  • Intervene in behavioral health crisis situations, when needed, which may include use of restraint interventions in accordance with CPI guidelines and agency policy and procedure to prevent self-harm or harm to others 
  • Maintain certification in CPI and CPR/First Aid.
  • Adherence to all applicable evidence-based practice models. 
  • Orally communicate information effectively and accurately. 
  • Assure program operates within the constraints of the agency’s certification (CARF, DMH) standards and strategic plan related to clinical care.                               
  • Abide by program and agency policies and procedures.
  • Other job duties and special projects as assigned.
