Position Summary
The Sr. Gas Marketer will be responsible for optimizing the value of the company’s natural gas production through strategic marketing, contract negotiation, and transportation management. This role requires strong commercial acumen, a deep understanding of natural gas markets, and close collaboration with internal stakeholders across operations, production, and accounting. The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, and skilled at managing both commercial relationships and operational details in a dynamic commodity environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Marketing & Sales:
- Market and sell natural gas volumes from company-operated assets across multiple basins.
- Negotiate and execute gas purchase, sales, and transportation agreements to optimize netback value.
- Monitor market conditions, regional basis differentials, and pipeline constraints to identify opportunities.
- Commercial Optimization:
- Manage monthly gas imbalances, production variances, sales, and transportation.
- Evaluate and execute strategies to maximize netback, including transportation and basis hedging opportunities.
- Collaborate with engineering to accurately forecast sales volumes.
- Relationship Management:
- Maintain strong relationships with midstream and marketing counterparties.
- Serve as a key commercial contact for field operations, production accounting, and finance teams
- Identifying upcoming maintenance or capacity constraints that could impact production or general market conditions.
- Reporting & Compliance:
- Ensure accurate and timely settlement, invoicing, and reporting of gas sales and transportation activities.
- Maintain compliance with all contractual, regulatory, and internal policy requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field required.
- 5+ years of experience in natural gas marketing, scheduling, or midstream commercial roles. South Texas, Permian, or Rockies gas marketing experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of North American natural gas markets, basis pricing, and pipeline systems.
- Proficiency with third party scheduling EBB’s and ETRM’s (Openlink, Endur, Allegro)
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
