About the Job
Mount Laurel Animal Hospital is currently seeking dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency and Critical Care team. This is a vital role in supporting the continuity of care for critically ill patients. This role offers more autonomy and advanced responsibility, working with fewer distractions, allowing for deeper focus on patient monitoring and treatment. Technicians on this shift often act as the eyes and ears for the ICU, catching subtle changes that save lives. We do offer a $6/hour overnight differential between the hours of 10pm-6am.

Responsibilities
• Provide 1:1 care for critical patients in ICU and ER.
• Assist in nighttime emergency procedures and trauma triage.
• Perform overnight monitoring, including titrating CRIs.
• Maintain accurate overnight reports for seamless daytime handoffs.
• Calmly manage high-stress scenarios with minimal supervision.
• Perform fluid therapy and calculations.
• Conduct blood gas analysis, electrolyte monitoring, and critical patient evaluation.
• Perform and assist in advanced nursing care for hospitalized and critical patients.
• Administer medications via multiple routes (IV, IM, SQ, PO).
• Monitor and assess patient vitals including blood pressure, ECG, temperature, and respiratory rate.
• Set up and monitor IV fluids, CRIs, and manage multi-port lines.
• Perform phlebotomy, lab sample handling, and demonstrate basic hematology knowledge.
• Prepare and monitor patients for emergency surgeries or procedures.
• Manage central line and PICC line placement and care.
• Administer transfusion therapy including blood typing and cross-matching.
• Provide nursing care for exotic species.
• Accurately document medical records and invoicing.

Skills & Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years of experience in advanced inpatient or emergency care.
• CVT or VTS (ECC) preferred or in progress.
• Strong critical thinking and multitasking abilities.
• Experience in high-volume, multi-doctor, or specialty hospitals.
• Excellent communication skills and dedication to patient care.
• Comfortable with handling exotics is a plus

Physical Requirements
• Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
• Frequent bending, standing, restraining, and active movement for long periods.
