About the Department

The Kent County Friend of the Court is seeking a detail-oriented professional to join our team as an Account Clerk I. This position plays an important role in helping families receive the financial support they depend on while ensuring accuracy and efficiency in every transaction.

Our mission is to serve the Court and the families of Kent County to ensure that children are supported—both financially and emotionally. We enforce child support, custody, and parenting time orders, monitor accounts, and prepare recommendations for the Court.

This position will perform a variety of accounting and payment processing tasks. Responsibilities may include accurately receipting cash payments made at the payment window, processing checks and credit card payments, researching bond or special instruction payments as needed, completing requests for “Opt-Out” paperwork, processing new case packets, redirection letters for employer submissions, contacting clients regarding misapplied/incorrectly submitted payments, contacting clients who have not activated their child support debit card, return mail for the department, Access to File Request payments, court-ordered evaluation payments and other assigned tasks essential to keeping operations running smoothly.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma (or equivalent) combined with six months of accounting or bookkeeping experience, or an Associate degree in Accounting or related degree. 
Computer literacy and detail-oriented analytical skills are essential.
