About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the General Manager Mental Health and Addiction Medicine, working in partnership with the Clinical Program Director Mental Health and Addiction Medicine, will be responsible for leading service provision across the program. The position has responsibility and accountability for an annual operating budget of approximately $100m and 475 full-time equivalent staff. A key aspect of this role is to provide strategic leadership on the management and growth of services to best meet demand whilst leading clinical service change management, service innovation and redesigning care. The role will provide operational support to Managers within the program as well as facilitate the interface between the Executive and Managers for all operational issues.
St Vincent’s Mental Health and Addiction Medicine provides high-quality, recovery-oriented care across the inner-city areas of Yarra and Boroondara. Services are grounded in a strengths-based model of recovery and delivered through a multidisciplinary approach across inpatient, community, residential, and specialist settings.
The program operates across Fitzroy, East Melbourne, Hawthorn, and Kew, and includes:
Acute and Residential Services
Community Mental Health Services
Specialist and State-wide Services

Research is a core focus, with active projects in transcranial magnetic stimulation, addiction medicine, and service innovation. Both quality improvement and formal research are used to inform practice and policy, with an emphasis on translational impact.
Classifications for this position is HSUA 5 Grade 7.
Your Contribution
Develop operational improvement and strategic initiatives
Actively explore, Identify, develop and implement new business opportunities for growth in collaboration with the directors and managers
Identify and partner with key external services to support innovation and integrate service delivery across the continuum of care settings.
Develop and be accountable for the financial plan and budget for the Mental Health and Addiction Medicine Program
Manage all operational, financial, and workforce issues, escalating unresolved issues to the Executive Director of Integrated Services
