Are you an experienced and detail-oriented technical expert in public works, construction, or civil engineering? We are looking for a dedicated Capital Projects Inspector to join our team and play a critical role in shaping the future of our city's infrastructure.

You will perform daily inspections across a diverse range of projects, from modernizing our water and wastewater systems to enhancing our parks and streets. What you'll do:
- Be a Guardian of Quality: Perform hands-on daily inspections of Capital Improvement Program projects to ensure full compliance with city standards, ordinances, and project specifications.
- Solve Complex Field Challenges: Work directly with project managers to resolve discrepancies between design plans and field conditions, recommending and implementing effective solutions.
- Ensure Critical Compliance: Participate in essential project milestones, including weekly construction meetings, pressure testing, chlorination, and bacteria sampling.
- Enhance Our Standards: Contribute to the creation and development of policies and procedures related to public infrastructure management.
- Document and Report with Precision: Complete and maintain thorough records, files, and reports, ensuring every project is meticulously documented.
- Identify and Correct Issues: Conduct preliminary plan reviews to identify and report inadequacies, verifying that all corrections are made to meet city code requirements.
- Leverage Modern Technology: Utilize GIS technology for field data collection, construction staking, and maintaining city-owned surveying equipment.
What you'll bring:
- Experience and Education: An Associate or Technical degree and five years of progressively responsible experience in public works inspection, construction, or civil engineering fieldwork, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Technical Proficiency: A solid understanding of construction and civil engineering principles, hydraulics, surveying, and GIS.
- A Keen Eye for Detail: The ability to read, interpret, and analyze complex construction plans and specifications.
- Exceptional Communication: The skills to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, contractors, consultants, and the public.
- Problem-Solving Prowess: The ability to navigate difficult situations and effectively resolve conflicts.
- Mobility: A valid Driver's License for operating city vehicles and equipment.
