Position Details

  • Title: Graphic Designer
  • Location: Communications and Marketing Department at the Library Service Center
  • Hours: Full -time, 40 per week 
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm
  • Starting Annual Salary: $45,760
  • FLSA Status: Exempt

A successful candidate will have…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of professional graphic design experience, preferably in an in-house or agency environment.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), collaborative project management tools, content management systems (CMS) and digital asset management (DAM) systems.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating range across digital, print, and advertising.
  • Solid understanding of typography, layout, color theory, and visual hierarchy.
  • Ability to take creative direction, apply feedback, align to brand standards, and collaborate and present solutions effectively across teams.
  • Familiarity with brand development and disciplined visual identity systems.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to cope with daily job-related stress.
  • Able to work the normally schedule work hours (includes off- hours and special events). 
  • Experience working on editorial or magazine layouts.
  • Exposure to photo art direction, illustration, or basic motion design.
  • Knowledge of PowerPoint, Canva; knowledge of motion tools (After Effects, Premiere) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices for digital and print design is a plus.

 

 What does the job look like?

  • Create visually effective graphic designs for a wide range of formats including, but not limited to, digital graphics (web, social, email), print collateral (flyers, brochures, signage), advertising (billboards, digital display ads, etc.), and editorial layouts (magazine, annual report, and newsletters).
  • Uphold and evolve the visual identity of the organization, ensuring all creative output aligns with brand guidelines and contributes to a consistent brand experience.
  • Collaborate with the Communications and Marketing team, content creators, and others to bring integrated campaigns to life across multiple channels.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously from concept through production and ultimately archiving, while meeting deadlines and maintaining high design standards.
  • Works with printers and other vendors to complete deliverables.
  • Prepare final files for both digital publishing and professional print production, including pre-press formatting, proofing, and asset exporting.
  • Participates or leads in brainstorming sessions and contributes ideas for campaigns, content strategy, and visual storytelling.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality in administrative matters.
