Job Summary
Mazzetti is seeking stellar entry-level Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing Designers to embark on a rewarding career contributing to innovative solutions for the built environment. In this role, you will support the design and development of electrical, mechanical HVAC and/or plumbing systems for a variety of projects, including healthcare, mission-critical, and sustainable buildings. You will gain hands-on experience performing calculations, preparing technical drawings and specifications, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and participating in sustainability initiatives. Work Location
This position is based near one of our Mazzetti offices in Atlanta, GA; St. Louis, MO; San Francisco, CA; Sacramento, CA; or Huntington Beach, CA. The role follows a hybrid work arrangement, including time spent in the office, at project sites, and working remotely from home.
Your Tasks Will Involve
Design and Technical Development:
- Assisting in the design of mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems.
- Performing calculations such as load analysis, voltage drop and short-circuit studies (for electrical) and heating and cooling loads, ventilation requirements, and distribution system sizing (for mechanical or plumbing).
- Preparing construction documents, including detailed drawings, diagrams, and technical specifications, using tools like CAD and Revit.
- Supporting sustainability efforts by integrating energy-efficient and renewable energy solutions into designs and assisting with LEED documentation.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Coordinating designs with the Mazzetti team and external disciplines like architects and structural engineers.
- Participating in project planning meetings to understand client requirements and align project objectives.
Construction and Implementation Support:
- Assisting with the construction administration process, including reviewing submittals and conducting site visits to observe system installations.
- Evaluating existing electrical systems on renovation projects and recommending solutions to integrate new systems effectively.
Professional Development:
- Staying current with industry trends, technology advancements, and applicable codes and standards to deliver innovative and compliant designs.
- Engaging with mentors and peers to develop technical and professional skills while contributing to impactful projects.
Travel Requirements: Occasional local travel to project sites.
Expertise And Abilities You Will Contribute
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering with a focus on HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems.
Experience:
- 0–3 years of experience in electrical, mechanical HVAC and/or plumbing building systems design (internship experience is acceptable).
- Previous exposure to healthcare/hospital design is a plus.
Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with engineering software, including CAD, Revit, and power analysis tools such as SKM PowerTools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform technical calculations accurately.
Certification:
- In pursuit of or eligible to obtain Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification within 2–3 years preferred.
Soft Skills & Interests:
- Experience with and/or interest in performing technical design tasks and contributing to innovative projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Passion for sustainability and creating energy-efficient, decarbonized building solutions.

Compensation: The typical salary range for an entry-level Designer is $50,000 - $90,000. The ultimate compensation may vary depending on your experience and job-related skills.
