Description

The purpose of this contract is to engage a Curriculum Development Specialist with demonstrated expertise in community resilience, violence prevention, and suicide prevention to co-develop and finalize a comprehensive, trauma-informed curriculum that strengthens the capacity of human service organizations and communities to foster healing, safety, and well-being.


This position will focus primarily on the development of Tier 2: Foundational & Community Application, with secondary support for Tier 1: Leadership & Organizational Strategy. The Specialist will design engaging materials, handouts, and interactive tools that make resilience practices accessible to a wide range of community audiences, including staff, youth, families, and neighborhood partners, while also ensuring alignment with the broader trauma-resilient community culture framework.

  • Tier 1: Leadership & Organizational Strategy: Advanced training for organizational leaders who are responsible for implementing, modeling, and sustaining trauma-informed practices, focusing on leadership and organizational strategies for fostering resilience, psychological safety, and healing in a professional setting.
  • Tier 2: Foundational & Community Application: Foundational training for all other participants (community members, families, youth, and staff), focusing on fundamental concepts of trauma awareness, resilience-building strategies, and the importance of emotional and physical safety within communities. Emphasis and lens is placed on suicide prevention and violence prevention through empowerment, engagement, collaboration, and advocacy. 


Experts will have knowledge in: 

  1. Trauma-theory, vicarious trauma, and organizational trauma
  2. Resilience science and healing-centered engagement frameworks
  3. Psychological safety, trust-building, and supportive leadership practices
  4. Mental and behavioral health considerations in workplace and community settings
  5. Organizational health models focused on well-being, morale, and engagement
  6. Change management strategies to embed trauma-informed practices systematically
  7. Cultural humility and equity-centered approaches to healing
  8. Staff wellness, burnout prevention, and collective care strategies
  9. Community Advocacy, family centered healing
  10. Design and facilitation of learning content focused on well-being and trauma resilience
  11. Community education tools that lay understanding of trauma and building resilience 


Required Expertise: 

  1. Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, writing, and instructional development, particularly for community-based or public health audiences.
  2. Proven ability to create engaging, accessible content that bridges theory and real-world community application.
  3. Knowledge of trauma-informed care, resilience-building, and healing-centered engagement
  4. Direct experience working in or alongside community organizations addressing violence prevention, crisis response, or suicide prevention.
  5. Skilled in developing participant materials, handouts, and applied exercises aligned with adult learning principles and measurable outcomes.
  6. Strong writing, editing, and design sensibilities with attention to clarity, tone, and audience literacy.
  7. Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and integrating feedback into iterative drafts.
  8. Familiarity with project management tools or collaborative writing platforms (e.g. SharePoint, Excel) to track workflow and deliverables.
  9. Commitment to equity-centered, culturally responsive, and inclusive approaches in all aspects of curriculum design.

The contractor shall be compensated at an (hourly based) rate for services rendered. The specific services and their corresponding rates are as follows: $81.25 per hour, not to exceed $650 per day.


Contract period: 11/1/2025 – 4/30/2026 

Projected # of hours: 300 hours over 5 months

This engagement will be conducted in a hybrid format, primarily through remote collaboration supported by scheduled virtual meetings and feedback sessions. In-person meetings may be arranged, as needed, for contractors located within reasonable driving distance or when doing so would enhance collaboration and the overall learning experience.
