Location: On-Site Support, Leonardtown, Maryland (Full-Time and Part-Time, Day & Swing Shifts)
Pay Rate: $15.81 per hour

Position Summary:

CLJ Consulting and Contracting, LLC is seeking dependable and detail-oriented Custodial Support Staff to provide comprehensive janitorial and sanitation services for the St. Mary’s County Health Department (SMCHD). This role ensures all administrative offices, clinical environments, laboratories, and school-based health centers are maintained in clean, safe, and sanitary conditions in compliance with SMCHD’s health, safety, and infection-control standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning in accordance with SMCHD’s established custodial service schedule.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, examination rooms, laboratories, kitchens, and common areas using approved hospital-grade disinfectants.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, strip, and polish floors utilizing proper custodial equipment (e.g., HEPA vacuums, auto-scrubbers, buffers).
• Empty, sanitize, and replace liners in trash and recycling receptacles throughout assigned areas.
• Replenish consumables such as paper towels, toilet tissue, hand soap, and sanitizer from on-site inventory.
• Follow color-coded cleaning protocols to prevent cross-contamination between zones and surfaces.
• Respond promptly to emergency cleaning situations, including biological spills and contamination events, following proper PPE and disposal procedures.
• Report facility maintenance issues, supply shortages, or safety concerns to the Onsite Supervisor.
• Comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control policies at all times.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of one (1) year of custodial or janitorial experience, preferably in healthcare, clinical, or laboratory environments.
• Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, supplies, and custodial equipment operation.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform tasks independently or as part of a team.
• Must successfully pass a background check and comply with the Maryland Sex Offender Law.
• Completion (or willingness to complete upon hire) of the following required trainings:
  • OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030)
  • HIPAA Confidentiality and Privacy Awareness
  • Hazard Communication and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) Handling

Work Schedule:

• Schedule varies by SMCHD facility:
  • Day Shifts: Monday–Friday, standard business hours (until 5:00 PM)
  • Swing Shifts: As assigned to support evening operations
  • Emergency Response: As required to support urgent cleaning or contamination events
