About the Department

The Student Staff position within the IT Pathway supports the faculty and department in the deployment, management, and inventory of educational platforms and resources. Student Staff members will also assist in content delivery on the Pathway social media pages, assist faculty with tasks in the department related to the technical equipment, and may assist in IT equipment upgrades.


Compensation: $15.03/hr. 


Priority Screening Date: Position is open until filled.


Starting Date: As soon as practical after the hiring process. 


Position Duties

Essential Functions: – this position is non-exempt and is eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA.  This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative, other duties may be assigned).

Enhances learning resources by assisting faculty members in deployment and management of technology

• Organize, inventory, clean, and assemble hardware, equipment, and tools

• Assist with the relocation, setup, and overall project support for new and existing computer laboratories

• Support and execute testing and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and computers • Immediately report any safety concerns or hazards to an IT Pathway Faculty Member 2.

Assists IT Pathway Faculty with general resources and course support through the execution of general duties

• Support the department through clerical tasks such as filing, scanning, sorting, copying, delivering paperwork and completing general errands as needed

• Assist department team members through preparing materials, monitoring supply inventories and assisting the operational functions of the department

• Provide general customer service through answering phones, responding to visitors, and routing inquiries to the appropriate team member of the department

• Support the department with special projects through completing tasks as assigned 3.

Maintain a positive impression of the program through maintenance and presentation efforts within the general department common areas 

• Cleaning and organization of the office and department areas

• Attend and assist with department meetings and functions as needed

• Attend applicable training sessions as needed

Promote the IT Pathway and associated programs and coursework through interaction with physical and virtual media, in-person engagement, and participation in hosted events

• Assist the IT Pathway Coordinator with social media content generation and management • Participate in IT Pathway related club and student organization events

• Discuss with touring individuals the student experience within the pathway

• Assist on recruitment events such as Pathways Day Other tasks may be assigned based on contemporary institutional need.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations
  • While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities
  • There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
  • An employee must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to perform essential position functions.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be instances of somewhat loud environments.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Current LCCC student enrolled in courses for the employed semester
• Admission at LCCC and continued enrollment in a minimum of 6 credits a semester, (exceptions may be given for summer term with supervisor approval)

Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience in an IT related field
• Attainment of one or more industry certification credentials
• Demonstrated ability to generate social media content and activity
• Demonstrated ability to manage IT hardware at an advanced level with minimal supervision

Other Qualifications

If you are selected for the position, your appointment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. LCCC reserves the right to end this employment agreement should the results of your background investigation not be successful.
