Job Title: Gynaecology Clinical Nurse Specialist
Location: Cromwell Hospital, 164-178 Cromwell Rd, London (SW5 0TU)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week (Monday-Friday 09:00am-17:00hrs)
Salary: Paying up to £56,847 per annum dependent on experience

As a Gynaecology Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will provide expert level planning, co-ordination, leadership and delivery of evidence-based care, using highly specialised knowledge for in patients and outpatients with gynaecological and urogynaecology conditions and gynaecological cancers.
You will act autonomously using advanced decision-making skills in the assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care, for patients with complex needs and in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team and other Clinical Nurse Specialists.
You will be responsible and accountable for supporting a case load of patients through the endometriosis service. Ensuring patients are followed up at 1 week and 6 months post-surgery, supporting a caseload of patients through the cancer pathway, from suspected cancer, new cancer diagnosis, treatment and management of recurrent or advanced disease.
How you’ll help us make health happen:
- To take responsibility for a caseload of patients and to work in partnership with the gynaecology consultants and oncology consultants.
- To support Consultants with gynaecology and oncology outpatient clinics by assessing, planning, coordinating, evaluating and delivering care for patients with gynaecology, urogynaecology and oncology conditions and diagnosis.
- To devise and evaluate care plans for patients after assessment, with realistic nursing goals in consultation with patients, family, and the multi-professional team.
- Lead in the development of care pathways and services within the gynaecology /urogynaecology and oncology service.
- Support in the clinical note taking of gynaecology and gynae-oncology multi-disciplinary team meetings to ensure treatment is personalised, holistic, seamless and in line with best practice.
- Organise blood tests, x-rays, MRIs, and other appropriate investigations based on the referral from the consultant and liaise with appropriate departments e.g., pathology, radiology, medical records, pre-admission, outpatient reception and appointments office.
- Act as an advisor / educator to less experienced nurses to ensure appropriate care is planned, implemented, and evaluated in both inpatient and outpatient areas.
- Contribute to related MDTs and clinical decision making for complex cases.
- Coordinating patient care with allied health professionals including dietitians,
physiotherapists and other Clinical Nurse Specialists. - To provide preoperative support at preadmission and on the ward to ensure patient has necessary information and has been appropriately prepared to proceed with surgery.
- Provide in patient post-operative support by carrying outward rounds in conjunction with the consultant, acting on management plan, arranging follow-up appointments and referral to other services.
- Provide cover for the Endometriosis Clinical Nurse Specialist during periods of annual leave or sickness, ensuring continuity of specialist patient care and service delivery.
Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:
- Registered General Nurse and NMC PIN required.
- Experience with women’s health, gynaecology and oncology.
- Ability to perform complex assessments, interpret results, and recognize symptoms of gynaecological cancers.
- Experience acting as a preceptor and mentor to junior nurses and other staff.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal presentation skills & report
writing. - Participating in the development of gynaecology oncology services and contributing to business plans.
- Pleasant and cheerful manner, being supportive and approachable.
