A Regular Substitute is a teacher/Teaching Assistant who is appointed to a regular teaching/teaching assistant position in place of a regular teacher/teaching assistant who is away from his/her position on a leave of absence. (minimum of one semester; maximum of full school year)

 

 

Dates of assignment:  1/26/26 - 6/26/26

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid NYS certification in Elementary (B-6)

 

 DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

UPK Classroom Teacher

  • Plan and implement thematic units that activate and build students' background knowledge;
  • Deliver Fountas & Pinnell English Language Arts instruction and implement a standards-based mathematics curriculum;
  • Plan and facilitate dramatic play opportunities to support student learning and development;
  • Teach language development and executive functioning skills to support early childhood growth;
  • Establish consistent routines and guide students in managing emotions and building positive peer interactions to strengthen social skills;
  • Execute lessons centered around exploration, curiosity, and big ideas to foster inquiry-based learning;
  • Provide instruction that is consistent and coordinated with the district's/school's instructional program so as to ensure that students meet and exceed learning targets;
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of student progress and evidence of growth and progress;
  • Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement.

  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administration
  • Create a positive educational climate for students in which to learn
  • Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year
  • Maintain accurate student records
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, paraprofessionals, and administration
  • Utilize data-driven Instruction to maximize student growth
  • Foster a warm and inviting classroom environment
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with a co-teacher
  • Willingness to learn and grow as a professional
  • Strong Experience with Technology

 

PREFERRED CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Experienced in working with primary-aged students to support academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Experience working with students who are English Language Learners
  • Experience in a Pre-Kindergarten or Preschool setting

 

REPORTS TO:  Building Principal

 

SALARY: $23,600 - $26,850    Per WTA Contract
