We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees.
Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean. Antioch is known as the “Gateway to the Delta” and is one of California’s oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000.
The Antioch Unified School District is a Merit System District. As such, final selection of our classified staff members will be made from candidates who have been placed on an eligibility list. Eligibility is determined via an evaluation and competitive screening/scoring of a candidate’s training and experience as demonstrated on the application and responses provided in the supplemental questions.
Job Summary
BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Human Resources Supervisor-Classified, perform a variety of activities involved in the processing and placement of substitute personnel; provide information and assistance to District personnel, job applicants and the general public regarding personnel functions; maintain various personnel records and files.
Required Documents
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and two years general clerical experience including one (1) year of human resources functions. Spanish speaking desirable.
SELECTION & EXAMINATION: The selection process will consist of competitive application screening for completeness and minimum qualifications. A written performance exam (weighted 20%) and an oral interview exam (weighted 80%) will be conducted. A passing score must be achieved on each portion of the exams. Final selection will be made from those who achieve the three highest ranking scores.

IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will possess strong technical and organizational skills, with experience supporting human resources functions in a school district or similar public agency environment. They are detail-oriented, customer service focused, and able to communicate effectively with staff, applicants, and the public. They will have intermediate-level skills in Microsoft Excel and other computer applications, with the ability to generate reports, track employee information, and maintain accurate data. Experience processing personnel transactions, monitoring attendance, and assisting with onboarding or compliance-related tasks is highly desirable.
