Provide routine installation and emergency repair as well as preventive maintenance of various heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration systems. Work under general supervision of an Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractor in accordance with established district and standard trade procedures. Tasks are diverse in nature and require extensive individualized analysis and assessment. Adhere to federal and state laws, as well as, district policies procedures and regulations.
Essential Functions
- Perform appropriate installation and emergency repair as well as preventive maintenance of various heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration systems of various capacity,
- Perform duties within established safety practices and district policy.
- Perform duties in accordance with EPA regulations, current international mechanical, fuel gas, and energy conservation building codes, Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations HVACR rules and laws, and standard trade practices.
- Utilize manufacture literature and reference material to solve various mechanical failures.
- Perform repair and programing of networked and stand-alone energy management systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and working drawings; prepare accurate material lists; perform field layouts.
- Be responsible for vehicle, vehicle inventory, materials, tools and record keeping necessary to satisfactorily complete and assigned task.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Trade Helper as assigned; cooperate with coworkers and routinely report necessary information to immediate supervisor.
- Attendance at the work site is required to meet essential functions of the job.

- Maintain a professional code of ethics and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED); must possess and maintain a TDLR Registered, Certified or Contractors Technician license (certified preferred) and an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification; asbestos removal certification preferred. Registered Technicians must have three (3) years verifiable experience installing, repairing, troubleshooting and maintaining heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration systems. Must possess a valid Texas or New Mexico driver’s license; be insurable by the District’s auto liability insurance carrier; subject to the YISD drug and alcohol testing policy and regulation. Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
Maintain emotional control under stress. Be able to travel district-wide frequently. Must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to fifty (50) pounds frequently; work under all weather conditions; be adaptable to work a shift schedule and/or hours other than regularly assigned; extended periods of walking, standing, bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping, heavy lifting and carrying. Will be exposed to insects; ability to work with pesticides and herbicides or other potentially hazardous materials in a safe manner.
