The Director- Leadership Academy within HL Academy will be a key part of this leadership capability building efforts, playing an important role in the design, development, and delivery of a range of leadership and related soft skills training initiatives for HL colleagues across levels and geographies.  This individual will work closely with HR leaders in HQ/Regions/GCC/TC, other key stakeholders as well as  other leaders of Academy to drive these efforts.

The position reports to the Dean- Hapag-Lloyd Academy in Hamburg.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate and contribute to defining and assessing leadership skills requirements across the organization in close coordination with People and Organizational Development colleagues in HQ, Regional/GCC/HR leaders and other stakeholders in HL to determine training needs.
  • Accordingly, curate, design, develop and execute a learning strategy, for leadership academy, tailored to the specific needs of our organization and its leaders across levels and geographies.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure alignment and execution of leadership related learning initiatives with organizational goals and objectives (e.g. leadership picture / principles defined by corporate HR)
  • Effectively working with various vendors / partners to design, customize, and deliver leadership and core curriculum / behavioral trainings as per the plans, in line with organizational policies and governance frameworks involving such vendor engagements.
  • Drive impact assessment through proper assessment framework, incorporate feedback, and ensure continuously to refine the leadership offerings for continuous improvement
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of leadership academy and core curriculum programs, adjusting as necessary to drive continuous improvement.
  • As part of HL Academy leadership team, work closely with other leaders within HL Academy to drive the Academy strategy and team culture to build a thriving and high-performance HL Academy team.
  • Lead, inspire and energize the Leadership Academy team within HL Academy in line with HL values and governance frameworks in place.

Qualifications

  • Approx 8-10 years of proven track record in leadership development, learning & development frameworks and driving outcome driven leadership development programs.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage high performance teams.
  • Good understanding of Hapag-Lloyd leadership culture and experience of working closely with HR leadership across HQ/Regions/GCC/TC would be preferred
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts to diverse audiences and coordinate with Corp Communications on larger org level communications about trainings via emails, Intranet Portal and other creative ways
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Proactive and results-oriented mindset, with a commitment to driving measurable impact through learning and development initiatives
  • Ability to drive vendor coordination and training related logistics for effective execution of trainings as per the plans
  • Willingness to travel internationally (especially during roll-out phases)

 

Due to regular intensive cooperation with colleagues outside of Germany, this position requires a very high level of English language skills - both in writing and orally.
