NURSING DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST
Jericho Road Community Health Center is actively seeking a Nursing Development Specialist. This position is part-time, within the Nursing Department, working at our 184 Barton, 182 Breckenridge, and 1021 Broadway locations.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate to improve patient outcomes and provide quality care as assigned by providers, nurse management team and supervisors
- Ensure all clinical care is delivered in a manner that meets or exceeds goals and expectations for clinical outcomes, quality assurance standards, state/local regulations, and patient satisfaction.
- Ensure all actions, personal conduct, and communications represent organizational values professionally.
- Perform physical exams and patient assessments to identify and address health problems and unmet patient care needs.
- Triage patient concerns and immediate needs by phone or in person.
- Provide nursing intervention and health education for individuals, families, and/or other groups regarding disease prevention, childbirth, support programs, and other health-related concerns.
- Perform medical treatments (medication and vaccine administration) as prescribed by a physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant or midwife.
- Collect samples (blood, urine, stool, or sputum) from patients and perform routine laboratory tests.
- Prepare patients for examination, testing or treatments and explain procedures.
- Perform EKG and Spirometry
- Support the Nurse Educator and Director of Nursing for the organization’s staffing and educational needs
- Assist in the onboarding and training of new nursing staff.
- Supports the development and updating of training materials.
- Help implement policy changes and workflow improvements to ensure up to date training.
- Supports nursing staff in understanding and following standards and regulations.
- Assist with hands on training and retraining as directed by nursing leadership.
- Work with learners one-on-one to help them plan their nursing professional development
- Collaborate with department and team leaders to identify their teams’ unmet or future needs
- Support Nurse Educator in keeping up to date on evidence-based practice in nursing and adult education
- Maintain familiarity with nursing professional development resources, like nursing schools, professional associations, continuing education providers, and nursing literature
- Keep up to date on state regulations and requirements for nursing continuing education and professional development
- Be familiar with a utilize learning management systems through Nurse Educator or Director of Talent Development
- Conduct and administer skills checklist to RNs, LPNs, and MAs across all clinical sites under direction of nursing team leadership
- Seek creative ways to communicate and execute various training modalities to team members
- Must be familiar with all clinic sites and support training needs for RNs, LPNs, and MAs across the organization
- Report back to nursing leadership and nurse educator regarding concerns with individuals who need re-training, coaching or disciplinary action based on performance
- Maintain credentials, attend seminars, and fulfill all licensure requirements including continuing education.
- Provide periodic monitoring of clinical skills and knowledge base of all nursing staff.
- Collaborate with the Quality Improvement Team as necessary to maintain quality standards for patient care.
- Monitors Pod functioning and clinical morning huddle activities to identify training needs.
- Collaborate with site Nurse Managers in annual reviews for RNs, LPNs, and MAs.
Qualifications:
- Graduated from an accredited nursing program with current NYS nursing licensure, either RN or LPN
- 3-5 years primary care direct patient experience preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Rate: $30.00-$35.00 an hour. Individual compensation is based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other position related components.
