Key Responsibilities:
- Perform field investigations to locate and mark underground utilities using electromagnetic equipment.
- Interpret utility records, site plans, and construction drawings to assist in locating efforts.
- Collect and document utility data using GPS and mobile data collection tools.
- Communicate findings clearly to engineers, surveyors, and project managers.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and local regulations during field operations.
- Collaborate with survey and design teams to integrate utility data into project deliverables.
- Maintain and calibrate locating equipment and ensure proper field documentation.
- Travel to project sites as needed, including occasional overnight stays.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training or associate degree in a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in utility locating or related fieldwork.
- Proficiency with electromagnetic locating equipment (e.g., RD8100, Metrotech)
- Familiarity with utility systems including water, sewer, gas, electric, and telecom.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and utility maps.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with GPS data collection and CAD integration.
- Knowledge of ASCE 38-22 utility quality levels.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
