Position Summary


The Adult Trauma Therapist serves as a staff member at will of Domestic Violence Intervention Services (DVIS). The Adult Trauma Therapist provides professional therapy services for DVIS clients including intake assessments, individual and group therapy, advocacy, crisis intervention, psychoeducation, and resources.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


Priority 1: Equity and Inclusion

Priority 2: Therapy Services

  • Screen and assess client needs and make informed referrals to other community resources. Conduct individual therapy sessions.
  • Facilitate group therapy for survivors that includes groups that are both process and curriculum based.
  • Document and maintain client files pursuant to DVIS (and funding sources such as Medicaid and licensing and professional standards.
  • Input and maintain client information in Electronic Health Record system.
  • Provide support for crisis calls and walk in clients when necessary.
  • Draft reports/letters for clients, court, or outside agencies.
  • Maintain and submit client statistics for grant purposes.

Priority 3: Collaboration

  • Collaborate with DVIS departments, federal, state, and local agencies regarding client matters.
  • Develop and deliver educational presentations internally and externally.
  • Maintain community partnerships to enhance safety of the Tulsa community and reduce the incidence and impact of violence within the Tulsa community.
  • Engage in meaningful, clinical trainings throughout the year to develop and maintain clinical skills.


Other Duties/Responsibilities: Other assistance to support the overall goals of the department and organization. DVIS retains the right to add or change duties and/or responsibilities at any time.


Supervisory Responsibilities: None.


Budgetary/Fiscal Responsibilities: Acts as a good steward of DVIS resources.


Responsibility for Confidentiality: The nature of this position requires safeguarding against the release of confidential and proprietary information of DVIS and its clients.


Contact with Others: This position will interact with staff members across the organization, in addition to members of external organizations and the public.

Requirements

Education: Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or another related mental health field required, or in a related field, or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience.


Experience: Requires 1-year of supervised experience working with clients in a clinical setting (can be obtained during a master level internship); experience working in a nonprofit is strongly preferred; or any equivalent combination of experience, lived experience, and/or special skills.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of or experience working with social justice issues, specifically intimate partner, and gender-based violence, post-traumatic stress, and rape trauma, and racial, class, gender, and sexual orientation issues strongly preferred.


Proven computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite are necessary, Adobe and database experience preferred.


Requires excellent organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize work and tasks. Requires adaptability to produce and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-tasked and changing environment, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and the ability to handle sensitive information with diplomacy are preferred. Must be an outstanding communicator and considered to be a developer of people who is comfortable motivating, collaborating, and working with a broad cross section of people in direct and matrixed relationships.

Schedule Availability: Days with occasional nights and weekends.


Licenses/Certifications: Current or under supervision for LPC, LMFT, or LCSW or other related professional licensure in good standing and valid Oklahoma driver’s license required; current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
