About the Department

Sandhills Community College seeks a full-time 9-month Therapeutic Massage Instructor. As a curriculum faculty, this person must guide and direct the learning experiences of students through knowledge, skills, and motivation.

The duties and responsibilities as directed by the Provost and include, but are not limited to, the following:
Professional Responsibilities
  • Abide by the Sandhills Community College Teaching Faculty Policy Agreement.
  • Maintain positive and professional interpersonal relationships with students, faculty, staff and administration at the college.
  • Support open expression of ideas, be sensitive and respectful to others. Respect the confidentiality of information shared during interactions. Discourage any form of harassment, bullying, and/or abrasive behavior directed at colleagues, students, and/or campus visitors.  
  • Promote a culture of excellence and caring for faculty and students. Develop professional relationships and show courtesy and respect while working with colleagues, potential donors, alumni, advisees, prospective and current students, and communities of interest.  
  • Post and maintain a schedule each semester showing availability.
  • Oversee Student Massage Clinic, including scheduling, organizing, evaluating, managing client relationships and interactions, and revenue management and reporting
  • Respond to emails and other communication from students, colleagues, department chair, Deans, VPs, Provosts, and President in a timely and professional fashion.
  • Participate in annual professional development activities.
  • Advise students in the program.
Teaching Responsibilities
  • Provided instruction in foundational and advanced MTH courses for the diploma and degree program in accordance with the published course curriculum
  • Demonstrate hands on techniques and concepts in the classroom and laboratory environments.
  • Maintain accurate academic records of students enrolled in classes and submit reports as required.
  • Maintain working knowledge of NC Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy Rules and Procedures  
  • Adapt to changing procedures, protocols, and assignments 
  • Create and maintain a safe and engaging learning environment 
  • Updating and revising curriculum to maintain compliance with current standards
  • Continually pursuing continuing education courses related to massage and bodywork therapy
  • Advising and guiding students throughout the program 
  • Planning and monitoring student massage clinics 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Hold a current NC Massage and Bodywork licensure for three or more years. 
  • Associate’s degree in Therapeutic Massage from an accredited institution 
  • Must have three or more years of experience working in the field of Massage Therapy.
  • Currently working or practicing therapeutic massage
