About CJCP
  Central Jersey College Prep Charter School (CJCP) is a tuition-free, public charter school in Somerset, New Jersey serving grades Kindergarten through 12th. CJCP first opened in 2006 with 77 students, and is now serving a diverse population of over 1,300 students and nearly 300 faculty and staff. CJCP is a recipient of many awards and designations such as:

  The mission of CJCP is to provide  academic and social opportunities for students to attain the skills necessary for success in post-secondary education. CJCP serves its mission by offering rigorous educational programs with an emphasis on college preparation, college and career counseling, and extracurricular enrichment activities.
  School Counselor 
  Position Summary:
  The School Counselor plays a vital role in promoting student success by developing and delivering a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with the ASCA National Model. The counselor addresses students’ academic, career, and social-emotional development, working closely with teachers, families, and community partners.
  Key Responsibilities:
  Counseling Program Development:
  - Create and implement a written ASCA-aligned counseling plan. 
- Maintain documentation aligned with the NASCA 8 Components (5 for elementary). 
- Communicate goals and services to stakeholders. 
Student Support:
  - Provide individual and group counseling. 
- Support students with academic, social-emotional, and career planning. 
- Utilize and interpret student data (benchmark, standardized tests, etc.). 
- Collaborate with families and staff to build life, academic, and career skills. 
Prevention & Intervention:
  - Develop and execute prevention programs addressing behavioral and emotional needs. 
- Coordinate and follow up on referrals. 
- Engage in I&RS, 504, behavioral support, and HIB processes. 
Program Management:
  - Conduct annual program reviews and share outcomes. 
- Integrate technology and maintain accurate student records. 
- Ensure consistent communication with families using digital platforms, newsletters, and events. 
Qualifications:
      - Minimum of 2 years in school counseling or a related field. 
- Preferred experience in I&RS, HIB, 504 planning, and behavioral support. 
Skills:
  - Strong communication, collaboration, and data analysis skills. 
- Ability to counsel diverse student populations effectively. 
- Knowledge of community resources and post-secondary planning. 
- Organized, proactive, and capable of handling multiple priorities.
