TV Javascript Engineer na Rakuten

Job Description:

Rakuten TV is a leading streaming platform, available in 42 countries of Europe, which offers premium Hollywood and local content across various types of access: Transactional Video-on-demand (ie buy or rent movies), AVOD (advertising-based on-demand content) or FAST (linear free TV channels with ads). Rakuten TV forms part of Rakuten Group one of the worlds’ leading internet services companies, offering a wide variety of services for consumers and businesses, with a focus on e-commerce, fintech and digital content.

The position

• You will be part of the end-to-end lifecycle of features, from concept to deployment and maintenance

• You will be part of an experienced team of developers, QA engineers, designers, and product owners

• Your code will be executed by millions of customers every month

• You will need to build and optimize UIs for TV applications.

What we expect from you

• 5+ years of relevant experience as a JavaScript developer with React in a TV environment

• Experience with monorepo (pnpm)

• Experience creating and maintaining reusable UI libraries (Storybook)

• Experience with focus navigation systems on TVs

• Experience integrating a design system from Figma to the codebase

• Experience publishing packages using npm registry

• Experience publishing and managing TV applications (Samsung Seller Office, LG Store, Google Play...)

• Experience with the HTML5 video player and other players (hls.js, Shaka Player, and/or Dash Player)

• Experience with Video Ad Serving Template (VAST)

• Mastering rendering performance on low-performant devices like TVs and set-top boxes

• Experience working with a dynamic product that requires changes almost every day

• Strong knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern frontend tooling

• Experience working with Scrum and Agile methodologies

• Believes in a very good testing strategy

• You are comfortable researching new technologies and/or looking for the optimal solution

• Work with backend engineers, product managers, and UX designers to deliver polished features

• Participate in and assist with setting the long-term direction, roadmaps, and standards for the web app.
