JOB PURPOSE
The Deodorant category has had many years of consecutive double-digit growth, based on fabulous innovation and consumer preferred mixes across key global brands: Rexona, Axe, Dove Men + Care and Dove. We are looking for a CTI Assistant Manager to lead and support key activities across our Personal Care Men’s Global brands (Dove Men + Care and Axe) and Smell Great CBP (Consumer Benefit Platform).
The role entails working closely with the global/regional cross-functional teams to design, develop and land innovation. We are looking for people with a natural curiosity and desire to interrogate and connect data to insight. You’ll help translate what consumers want into actionable technical standards that our Axe, Dove Men+Care, and Smell Great CBP R&D teams can deliver against across our key design cells of the UK, Mexico, and Brazil.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Actively contribute in cross-functional projects and Innovation, Brand and CMI teams and as the advocate of the male consumer, support the teams through translating research questions into robust CTI testing.
- Play a key role in shaping project direction and outcomes, driving strategic alignment with the Men’s, Axe and DM+C strategies.
- Autonomously build comprehensive CI plans for multiple medium to large projects and landing insights with impact into project teams and use consumer understanding to shape innovation and contribute to the evolution of the Men’s consumer strategy.
- Lead the planning, co-ordination, and execution of qualitative, quantitative, and technical testing, leveraging internal capability and/or external partners as required to deliver outstanding innovations.
- Build strong and collaborative relationships with both internal and external partners, managing external relationships.
- Oversee data governance and ensure all research is managed with the upmost ethical standards, including ensuring consumer personal & sensitive personal data is always protected.
- Oversee and ensure good data practices are implemented to deliver clean, well -structured data to enable visualisation, statistical analysis and model building.
- Analyse, interpret and report test data, as required, to a high standard and evaluate alongside human panel data, to build recommendations and next steps to support the development of superior products and stories.
- Present data in an appealing and engaging way tailored to the audience: fully detailed debrief to technical teams and higher-level (VP+) stakeholders as required.
- Keep up to date with new methodologies and techniques in consumer and sensory research leading the implementation of these; developing new capability, where appropriate, ensuring best practice is applied.
- Lead elements of the CTI data and digital transformation of consumer data by working with internal and external partners to identify, develop and implement processes and tools for ongoing continuous improvement.
- Provide expert recommendations and guidance across Unilever CTI communities (e.g. defining best practice, training and capability building) as well as sharing relevant male insights with our North America partners.
- Champion the voice of the consumer and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of Unilever & Competitor products within R&D to help identify opportunities for competitive advantage.
- Contribute to the success of the wider Men’s team through leading and supporting team development and strategic programmes.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in science, Psychology, Market Research, Statistics, or relevant experience in a consumer research role.
Experience in some or all the following:
- Experience of working in an FMCG company.
- Experience in key male formats such as deodorant sticks and body sprays.
- Managing complex consumer research programmes with varying scopes and consumer needs.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changes effectively.
- Strong knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Experience of working with research agencies to brief and commission testing.
- Ability to connect difference sources of data, recognising insights and communicate them effectively to different teams.
- An interest, or experience/ knowledge of visualisation techniques and tools would desirable.
- Summarising and presenting results in an impactful way, tailored to the audience.
