What You'll Do:
In the Case Manager role, you’ll provide direct services to clients, to include but not limited to, intake, assessment and vocational case management, job placement and referrals, and social services/basic needs client advocacy (resources & referrals) to help day laborers, migrant workers, individuals experiencing homelessness, and families achieve employment placement and self-sufficiency. Our ideal candidate is able to prioritize clients’ needs and service delivery, programmatic goals, is team-oriented, responsible, reliable and accountable, has a passion for helping others that shows through in many ways and feels a strong motivation to undertake challenging work for the benefit of the diverse and vulnerable community that we serve.
Client Support:
- Track client progress, update case plans, and provide strengths-based case management
- Ensure comprehensive, timely, and person-centered services
- Provide strengths-based case management, including assessments, individual service plans, crisis intervention, and advocacy.
- Develop personalized stability plans, including but not limited to employment and housing plans, offering ongoing support, monitoring participant progress, and providing information (resources) and referrals
- Complete case notes, case plans, progress notes, and other required documentation
- Manage a diverse client caseload by providing direct services including fulfilling basic needs, job placement, job-related referrals to other service providers, and conducting workshops and educational services related to job employment
- Administer supportive and basic needs services as per agency and contract guidelines
- Link clients with essential resources within and beyond the agency
- Facilitate monthly meetings or trainings, social events, and classes to engage clients
- Partner with other agencies, faith centers, and community settings to provide services
- Identify resources and advocate for the client’s needs
- Case conference regularly with internal/external staff on behalf of the client’s needs
Housing Services:
- Connect clients to supportive housing options and community resources such as healthcare, mental health services, and legal aid.
- Provide housing navigation and housing instability support, including assisting participants with completion and eligibility for housing choice vouchers, connecting with emergency rental assistance, and other housing programs
- Communicate regularly with clients and the team regarding housing options and availability
- Maintain active housing listings and guide participants through application processes
Employment Services:
- Utilize a strengths-based approach to identify and develop clients' employment skills
- Facilitate the employment process, including connecting clients with employment opportunities, registration, eligibility verification, job placement, referrals, workshops, and educational programs
- Assist clients with resume writing, interview skills development, and career planning
- Connect individuals with employment opportunities through our day labor program and job placement services. Advocate for fair wages for participants in the program
Financial Empowerment:
- Develop financial goals with clients, focusing on budgeting, saving, and increasing income.
- Support clients in applying for public benefits (CalFresh, General Relief, etc.).
Data & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate case information in electronic databases and client files.
- Complete necessary forms and generate statistical reports in a timely manner.
- Support Program Manager in gathering data for program reports.
- Accurately record case information within electronic databases (HMIS/Clarity, CIE, ETO and Excel) and client files, accurately complete all necessary forms and produce statistical reports
Requirements
Who You Are:
You're passionate about making a lasting impact, whether supporting individuals directly or enhancing our organizational effectiveness. To thrive in this role, you'll:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required
• 1+ years of experience working in a shelter, social services, or non-profit setting, required
• Bilingual (English/Spanish), required
SKILLSETS / ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries with clients
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be highly organized and demonstrate attention to detail
- Experience writing accurate and comprehensive case notes
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple deadlines and working effectively under pressure, using independent judgment to produce quality work under time constraints
- Demonstrated experience working with a collaborative team
- Working Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Ability to communicate effectively among a diverse workforce population and maintain sound working relations with all levels within the organization
- Work with spirit of enthusiasm, teamwork, cooperation and a sense of urgency
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality over all matters in the course of business operations including client and employee information
- Ability to multi-task in an efficient, thorough, and prioritized manner

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to perform work in a climate controlled office setting
- Must have the physical ability to sit for long periods of time, stand, walk, bend, kneel and uses hands, arms and legs for dexterity and balance on a frequent basis
- Occasionally lifts, carries and balances objects weighing up to 30 pounds
- May be subjected to adverse conditions, including contact from hostile people
- Low to moderate exposure to contagious diseases (hepatitis, HIV, tuberculous, etc.)
- Low to moderate exposure of unpleasant and noxious fumes, odors, dust, temperatures, noise and inclement weather
- Pulls and pushes such objects as file drawers, computers and similar office equipment and supplies
- Prioritizes and multi-tasks work and projects requiring good memory , concentration and analytical thinking
- Occasionally is required to perform the safe operation of a vehicle, office equipment and machines, and recognize and abate safety hazards within the workplace
- Must be able to hear, see including distinction of colors, read and communicate verbally and in writing frequently with a wide range of people from divergent socio-economic backgrounds and origins
- The noise level in the work environment is usually low
Location: Onsite/Carlsbad
Hourly Rate: $25.50
Hours: 7am-4pm
***This is a temporary role starting October-December, with a possible extension***
