Requirements

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Critical Care Consultant to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing specialized medical care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and other acute care settings. This role requires strong clinical acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to make timely, life-saving decisions under pressure.

Whether you are a recent postgraduate or an early-career specialist in critical care, this position offers an excellent opportunity to work with advanced medical technologies and gain hands-on experience in managing complex and high-dependency cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Management:
    • Provide expert care to patients with life-threatening medical conditions in the ICU and emergency units.
    • Monitor patients’ vital signs and assess responses to treatment interventions.
    • Manage patients requiring ventilator support, hemodynamic monitoring, and other intensive therapies.
    • Oversee the administration of critical medications, fluids, and nutritional support.
  • Clinical Decision-Making:
    • Evaluate diagnostic test results and develop individualized treatment plans.
    • Lead daily ICU rounds, assess patient progress, and modify treatment protocols accordingly.
    • Collaborate with consultants from other specialties (cardiology, neurology, nephrology, etc.) for multidisciplinary patient care.
    • Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide advanced life support when required.
  • Team Leadership & Coordination:
    • Supervise and mentor junior doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff working in the critical care unit.
    • Ensure that clinical practices adhere to established hospital protocols and international critical care standards.
    • Conduct briefings and handovers to maintain continuity of care across shifts.
  • Quality, Safety & Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to infection control, patient safety, and hospital quality assurance policies.
    • Participate in mortality and morbidity meetings to analyze outcomes and enhance patient care standards.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, clinical documentation, and reports.
  • Communication & Family Support:
    • Communicate effectively with patients’ families regarding clinical status, prognosis, and treatment options.
    • Provide emotional support and counseling during critical situations.
    • Coordinate with hospital administration, nursing, and allied departments for smooth operations.
  • Continuous Learning & Research:
    • Stay updated with the latest developments, research, and innovations in critical care medicine.
    • Participate in academic discussions, workshops, and hospital training sessions.
    • Contribute to case studies, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • MBBS with MD / DNB in Anaesthesiology, Internal Medicine, Pulmonology, or Emergency Medicine.
  • Postgraduate Diploma / Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of critical care protocols, mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, and infection control.
  • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure environments with composure and professionalism.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
